Film Review:

Diamonds In The Sky

On Netflix

If this is the future of Nollywood, I welcome it.

Succinct, Suspense, and Educative, Funny, Drama, Health, Social and Family Issues. A 360 for me. Well scripted, produced and directed. It is no brainer - a crew of Kunle Afolayan, Tunde Babalola and Femi Adebayo must deliver and deliver they did.

Okay... The cast:

Aunty Joke Jacobs is a veteran actor of many talents. Her versatility is top notch. She managed the Northern/Hausa accent sweetly (I should know, I have fabulous Sister In Love from the North ). Y'all need to see Aunty JJ in this film. Brilliant!👏

Femi Adebayo surprisingly acted the role of a Gee. A Real Man. He knew what he has done, he knew what he wanted and refused to bow to family pressures. 👌

Bimbo Akintola! I think Aunty JJ must have met Bimbo in a previous life. Bimbo is another actor I will pay top money to watch. Her role in this film? Brilliant. 👏👌

Ayo Mogaji - if you know this Aunty well, you know she knows her onions. Her eyes? She can whip the life out of you with them 😂😂😂

And of course Toyin Aimaku Abrahams... She behaved so well done to her Akproko self 🤣

The film focused on Women. And the big C. African/Black Women are under a lot of pressure already and the fear and frustration of being diagnosed with Cancer is not only devastating, it is scary.

The lessons were well documented. I can bet that the Doctors were real. Their performance were professional and straight to the point. THAT is what a real film should portray - Let the professionals deliver the parts accurately if  you truly are serious about passing on your messages. If the professionals can't act, let them be your consultants. End of.

The only issue I have with this film is this (and I have pointed this out a few times) - how come Femi Adebayo has a family featured in the film but his fiancee - Omowunmi Dada didn't? Especially being the one that's going through a medical problem, shouldn't we see how her own parents responded (reacted) to their child's crisis (and the audience be educated how to or not to react when faced with such).

Otherwise, this film is a must see and I highly recommend it.

A mighty 9/10 for me.

Have a great weekend folks and do let me know your thoughts.

Let's Reev It!

One Love 😍 ❤
