PRESS RELEASE: Toyin Moore's CAPTIVATED Premiered in Lagos on Saturday 24th October 2015 won the Best Directed film at the BEFFTA AWARDS 2015

The Lagos Premiere of TOYIN MOORE'S Captivated Film took place on Saturday 24th October 2015 at thePrestigious Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island ,Lagos .

 It was well a very colourful event well attended by a mixture of entertainment and business persons among whom was Paul Obazele,who made a very strong speech commending the sterling work by UK Nollwood Director producer Toyin Moore and the brilliant Actors featured in the film

The film ended with a standing ovation from all, Its indeed a new dawn as UK Nollywood debutes in Nigeria.

Notable also was the massive presence of media agencies interviewing the dignitaries present , among whom are KEN SMART EXECUTIVE PRODUCER and LEAD ACTOR of the film , Lydia Tet Olet the Script writer and Actress. Lydia a British Kenyan was elated as it was her first Nollywood experience

The Host was Evangelist Elishama Ideh whose story is been depicted in the film ,a woman with many sides ,worthy of note is her NGO ELISHAMA MINITRIES which caters to less privileged and disadvantaged people.she did a fantastic job in hosting this memorable event. 

Ken Smart played the lead role alongside Toyin Moore and Rosaline Ajose-Sanni.The film ended with a standing ovation from all, This is obviously a sign of things to come from UK Nollywood .

The next stop is America as CAPTIVATED has been screened in London ,Lagos and now going to the US . .

Captivated Won the Best Director in the just gone BEFFTA 2015. It was nominated for various categories including; Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Actor and Best Actress.

SYNOPSIS

Moduroti Bankole–Smith is a twenty eight year old events planner that has always been unlucky in love. She is reminded at every turn about how wonderful love his with proof to substantiate the case. Her parents are madly in love and are always nudging her to find someone. She has 3 close friends Tseju whose profession is unclear and Tobe a banker.

Events take a bizarre turn when she is hired to plan a long time friends upcoming wedding. This ignites a change and a chain reaction in Moduroti, she is now determined to open her self to new ways to explore dating and finding romance. An old flame returns to town to further complicate her plans. Unbeknownst to her, her close friend Tobe secretly harbours affection for her and that starts to reverberate as an under current that will reach a tipping point. A tipping point that will either end badly or for the better, Moduroti will have to find the natural balance of love as she hopes it to be or as most people experience it.

‘Sounds of Africa’ is a new photography exhibition curated and photographed by Michael Tubi. Held at the Menier Gallery in London the exhibition will run from August 26th to 30th with a private view being held on Tuesday 25th August at 6pm. The exhibition showcases the work of African artists who are taking contemporary African Music to the global stage.

With images of established and emerging contemporary performers including Fuse ODG, Wizkid and Salawi Abeni, ‘Sounds Of Africa’ aims to showcase the best that music from Africa has to offer. Styles such as Afrobeat, Hi-Life, Fuji, Quenet, and Azimaris are all displayed in the works of photography, with Tubi hoping to open people up to greater understanding and appreciation for the different art forms.

Michael Tubi is a British born African Hertiage portrait and documentary photojournalist based in London. His artistic medium consists predominantly of photography, while also incorporating videography to express his artistic vision.

Tubi curated ‘Sounds Of Africa’ with the aim of bringing new audiences to experience the variety and richness of contemporary African Music

“My hope for the exhibition is to promote a unique perspective of African music through popular and progressive African artists that embody the development of the continent.” Michael Tubi.

‘Sounds Of Africa’ will hold a private view on Tuesday 25th August from 6pm to 9pm at Menier Gallery, 51 Southwark Street, London, SE1 1RU.

The exhibition will be displayed at the Menier Gallery from August 26th to August 28th, 11am to 6pm and on August 30th, 11am to 3pm.
