FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Onye Ozi (The Messenger) London World Premiere & Global Online Premiere

THE NOLLYWOOD FACTORY
IN ASSOCIATION WITH Nollywood Movies and M-Net Africa

THE NOLLYWOOD FACTORY

++++ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ++++
Onye Ozi (The Messenger)
London World Premiere & Global Online Premiere

Top Nollywood funny man Okey Bakassi takes centre stage in new psychological
comedy Onye Ozi (The Messenger), the latest film from Nollywood hit master
Obi Emelonye, which receives its world premiere in London on Fri 18th Oct 2013
at The Lighthouse (Camberwell) aka RCCG House Of Praise London.

Onye Ozi, is a first-of-its-kind Nigerian language film; set in London, performed
exclusively in the Igbo language (by Nigerian and British actors) and subtitled in
English. The film introduces screen newcomer, model turned actress, Ngozi
Thompson Igwebike in a leading role, with other fresh faces such as British lawyer
turned actor Stephen Moriaty filling other roles in a film that is considered a
surprising follow up to Emelonye’s hugely successful 2012 blockbuster, Last Flight to
Abuja.

Despite the film having a micro budget, Emelonye sees this as an important film that
makes his mother tongue 'Igbo' the star attraction. In his own words 'Onye Ozi is my
humble attempt to contribute my little quota to the preservation of the Igbo
language and to take Nollywood back to its roots’.

Onye Ozi tells the story of Metumaribe (Okey Bakassi) fresh into London with high
expectations and a two-year plan to return to Nigeria a rich man. However, life in
London with his new ‘wife’ Mkpurunma (Ngozi Thompson Igwebike) is not going to
plan.
On one fateful night, TJ an old English man (Stephen Moriaty) is chased by masked
men and shot in front of his eyes. As Metu attempts to help the dying man, he hands
Metu an envelope and whispers a message as he takes his last breath. From that
point on, Metu becomes involved in a psychological but hilarious adventure that will
change his life and the lives of those around him forever.

Obi Emelonye says
'After the many successes of Last Flight to Abuja and The Mirror Boy, I felt that the time
was right for me to do what I have been holding back for many years - to make a
personal but important film that makes my mother tongue 'Igbo' the star attraction.

The origins of Nollywood can be traced back to Living in Bondage, an Igbo film subtitled
in English. However, as the industry has evolved, films in other major Nigerian languages
have made significant strides and Igbo language films have become an endangered
species. Onye Ozi (The Messenger) is my humble attempt to contribute my little quota to
the preservation of the Igbo language and to take Nollywood back to its roots.
It is a micro budget film and not one of the films for world domination. However, you can
never tell. As my French producer friend once said, 'you have to be local, to be global'.
This film will find its audience and its place in the very exciting African cinema terrain'

Onye Ozi, written, produced & directed by Obi Emelonye is now one of the most
anticipated Nollywood movies of 2013. The visionary marketing team behind previous
Nollywood Factory premieres is also again set to take Nollywood to the next level with
a FIRST ever simultaneous World Premier and Global Online Release, giving fans
of Nollywood all over the world a chance to enjoy the film at the same time.
It is anticipated that the unique online premiere of Onye Ozi will further elevate
Nollywood cinema globally with a Nigerian premiere and cinema release scheduled
to take place sometime in the coming months.

Onye Ozi is produced by emerging UK based film producer Emmanuella Ngozi Ideh
alongside Obi Emelonye on behalf of The Nollywood Factory with the support of
Nollywood Movies, M-Net Africa and Screen Nation Pictures.

UK Cinemas release of Last Flight to Abuja from 29th June

After a hugely successful world premiere at The Troxy Cinema in East London in front of over 1300 guests, Last Flight to Abuja, the new Nollywood, disaster themed suspense thriller by award winning UK based Nigerian director Obi Emelonye, is now set to be released across 14 London cinema screens from Friday 29th June.

Two of Nigeria’s leading companies Diamond Bank PLC and Zinox Technologies came together to support the premiere and in a touching tribute, the audience observed a one-minute silence in honour of the Dana Airlines crash victims prior to the screening of the film and the producers replaced the closing credits with a list of the departed souls. The premiere audience included stars from the movie – Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Jim Iyke and Ali Nuhu, Ambassador O.K. Lawal, the Deputy High Commissioner to the Court of St. James and representative of the Nigerian Government amongst a host of others. The event was anchored by ace Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi.

Last Flight to Abuja starring some of Africa’s biggest screen acting talents - Omotola Jalade-EkeindeHakeem Kae-Kazim and Jim Iyke - is the very first Nollywood film set on a plane and is a high octane suspense thriller inspired by real life events that unravels the twists, turns and leaps of fate that put a set of everyday Nigerian travelers on-board a stricken plane teetering on the brink of disaster at 30,000 feet. Caught up in a nightmare scenario all the passengers pray as the final moments of their lives approach. Will they survive…..the Last Flight to Abuja?

Originally inspired by a series of airplane disasters that rocked Nigeria in 2006, Last Flight to Abuja has inadvertently become highly relevant and timely due to the uncanny similarities to the recent horrific Dana Airlines plane crash that happened in Lagos on 3rd June 2012 which resulted in the loss of over 160 lives. As a tribute the producers of the film have now dedicated the film to the memory of the victims of both the Dana Airlines andAllied Air disaster that happened on the same day.
With the issue of air safety on African airlines high on the global news agenda, the producers believe that now is the most opportune time to release this important film in order to maintain pressure on the relevant agencies to tackle this serious issue.

The producers, cast and a number of African media organisations are now coming together to create a campaign demanding improvements in air safety in Nigeria and hope that these actions in some small part will show support towards the family and friends of the victims and the nations of Nigeria and Ghana as they go through the pain of the healing process of these terrible national disasters.

The film producers hope that Last Flight to Abuja will now be viewed as an advocacy tool to raise awareness of the need for increased aviation safety in Nigeria, and in Africa as a whole. Last Flight to Abuja is being released independently by The Nollywood Factory and Screen Nation Pictures with distribution consultancy and servicing by Talking Drum Entertainment and Evrit Distribution.
