21st AFRICAN FILM AWARDS 2017: NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT (FULL LIST OF FINALISTS) 

London hosts greatest gathering of Africa’s film Stars African Voice Newspapers UK, the organisers of the annual African Film Awards has made public the nominees for the 21st edition. The African Film Awards this year witnessed over 100 entries from across the world. The Awards Jury has nominated great new talents and established names in the industry. 

London will host the glamorous awards ceremony to announce the winners of Africa’s most prestigious film awards at a gathering of cultural ambassadors, diplomats, business moguls and celebrities at the historic Stratford Town Hall on Saturday 4th November 2017. 

The evening will also witness investiture ceremony for deserving African Leaders who will be honored with 2017 African Voice Leadership Awards. The 2017 African Voice Leadership Honours List include Chief Dele Momodu who is to be recognised for Leadership in Enterprise Development and others who have shown dedication to the economic growth of Africa. Recipients from the Diaspora include Rev. Julius Oladipo Shebioba, Dr. Richard Fasunloye and Patrick Campbell whose leadership contributions has helped community integration and cohesion in the United Kingdom. 

Veteran Actress Golda John Abiola, Co-Founder and Event Director said, the journey of 21years of African Film Awards has positively portrayed Nollywood across the world.  The Jury recognises outstanding achievements and great strive for excellence among the Diaspora filmmakers. Two films, Desecration and Talking Dolls got the highest nominations in 8 categories: Desecration got Award nomination for Best feature film, Award for Best Producer, Award for Best Screenplay, Award for Best Director, Award for Best Supporting Actor, Award for Best Supporting actress, Award for African Actor of the Year and Award for African Actress of the Year. While, Talking Dolls got Award nominations for African Actor & Actress of the Year, Award nomination for Best Director, Best Actress in Supporting role, Best actor in Supporting role, Best Producer, Best Screen play and Best Feature Film. 

Others with six to seven nominations are the movie Help, In A Strange Land and Unpredictable Romance. 

Top actresses like Rita Dominic (Desecration) and Belinda Effah (Talking Dolls) will slug it out in the African Actress of the Year category while Nigeria's Joseph Benjamin (Desecration), Daniel K Daniel (Talking Dolls), Daniel Lloyds (Help) and Rotimi Salami (Not Yet Married) compete to win in the category of Best African Actor of the Year. 

Other finalists from Africa’s fast growing film industry popularly known as Nollywood and those from the (Hausa Language category) are: Nafisat Abdullahi, Idris Hafsat Ahmed, Kamal Sani Alkali, Ramadan Booth, Hamisu Lamido Iyantama, Ibrahim Halima Yusuf, and Sani Ahmed Yaro and from (African Film in Yoruba Language category) are: Abiola Adebayo (Best supporting Actress), Yomi Fabiyi Best supporting Actor in Supporting Role) and Laide Bakare (Best Actress).

SYNOPSIS:
MAIN PLOT
Mike an entrepreneur is happily married to Kate who is the creative director of an advertising agency, she is so muchengrossed with her carrer and winning the biggest brands for her company. Mike is diagnosed with cancer of the lungs in consequence of the smoking habit he had in his school days, he needs to go to India for surgery and the Doctor advised that his wife should take a leave and come with him to hasten the recuperating process, Kate agrees to go with her husband, but as they are about to travel, the biggest telecoms company in the middle east has just been licenced to operate in Nigeria, Kate's company stands the chance to win the bid for their adverts, and they will not be able to do the bidding without the creative director. Kate is torn in between traveling to help her husband recuperate and winning the biggest account ever for her company.
SUB PLOT
Patrick is fond of of shouting down his wife Lola, they had a disagreement one night and their child witnessed the earlier part of the disagreement, where Patrick was a little bit violent on Lola. the next day, Lola is found dead on the bed, and their child testifies about her fathers violence the night earlier. all fingers point at Patrick as Lola's killer. The mystery behind her demise must be untraveled.

'Married But Living Single' Set to be released Online this Friday 26th April 2013

“Married But Living Single”, a new fantastic Nollywood movie inspired by Pastor Femi Fasheru's book is to be digitally released online at the end this month.

Kate (Funke Akindele) works in an Ad agency and she's totally engrossed in her career at the expense of her family so much that she chooses her career instead of accompanying her husband, Mike (Joseph Benjamin) to India for surgery.
Her neglect of the only child of the family is epitomized in the daughter's love for only her father and even a stranger who turns out to be her mother's rival.
The movie revolves around women, their career and family ties. It depicts the challenges faced by career women in the contemporary society, and their ability to blend between career and family.

Other stars featured in the movie are Joke Silva, Kiki Omeili, Tina Mba, Femi Brainard and many more.

Nkiruka ‘Kiki’ Omeili is a Nigerian Television and film actress, best known for playing the role of the antagonistic Titi Haastrup along side other Nigerian film actors Funke Akindele, Joseph Benjamin and Joke Silva in the 2012 feature film “Married but Living Single”
In 2011 Omeili auditioned for and got the role of Debbie in the TV series “Behind the Smile”. In 2012 she teamed up with the director of “Behind the Smile”, Tunde Olaoye, to star in her debut feature film “Married but living single” where she worked with Funke Akindele, Joseph Benjamin, Femi Brainard and Joke Silva. Omeili has had roles in a number of TV series including “The Valley Between”, ”Nesrea Watch” and “Gidi Culture”.‬‬
Asides from her acting roles, in 2011 Omeili hosted the Dance reality TV show “Dance 234″, a Koga entertainment production.‬‬ Omeili also hosts the health segment on Smooth FM’s saturday morning radio show called “Balancing Life” and writes numerous articles in online blogs.‬‬
Kiki Omeili also “emcees” various events and has done voice-overs for projects including LG and the MTN world cup countdown programme in 2009.
In October 2012, Omeili received the award for the ‘Best Actress (Supporting Role in an English language film)’ at the 17th African Film Awards (formerly known as the Afro Hollywood Awards) in London.

The Anticipated drama flick Married but Living Single inspired by a Pastor Femi Faseru’s book, Produced by Kaleja held its London Premiere on Friday 5th October 2012. This Spectacular event was organised and  packaged by one of the UK Based Media and Events Consultants & Promoters, FEMTEJ KREATIONS MEDIA.  This took place at one of the Mainstream Cinemas in the UK,  Odeon IMAX Cinema Greenwich, London. The After party took place at Club Nollywood, Camberwell, London.

The event was graced by some of our loved movie practioners including one of the Cast of the Movie, The delectable, Veteran  Actress, Screen & Stage personality, Tina Mba, One of the Best of Nollywood Rita Nzelu, Movie Producers, Movie Directors and all Nigeria & UK Based  Entertainment, Media, Fashion,  Personalities,  and movie lovers as well as friends and well wishers of the producer Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul.

This event was hosted by the one and only Mc Mark Cun as he spiced the atmosphere up with some hilarious jokes before the screening. The Producer, Mr Kalejaye Adeboye gave a bit of opening speech and recognition of the presence of one of the cast of the movie. He also gave the Vote of thanks at the end of the screening.

This Movie stars the likes of Funke Akindele, Joseph Benjamin, Joke Silva, Tina Mba, Femi Brainard, Kiki Omeili, Kalejaiye Paul Adeboye, Yemi Remi and Many others.
