Malaika the Movie

The Movie MALAIKA, Shot in Lagos (Badagry, Epe and Agege) and Abeokuta, Malaika tells the story of Adefola (Kabirat) who sojourns into the land of the supernatural while still straddling the land of the living. Adefola has a nuptial date with Adefenwa (Segun Ologbe) on earth, but she is stranded in a strange, strange world. Kolapo (Alloy Bazuaye), The Mystery Man (Edaoto Agbeniyi) and other seasoned actors that include Dele Odule and Yemi Adeyemi have different roles to play to unravel the intrigues.
One of the surprises that Karfy has in store for the viewer is, again, that Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu, is introduced as an actor in Malaika.
Also radiating fulfilment, Kabirat says she is one of the happiest persons on earth for having successfully engaged the Malaika story.
“As an actress, playing Adefola has been the most challenging experience I have had,” she explains. “All the cast too have a similar experience to share.”
The movie Malaika took the writter and producer three year of hard work to produce. The movie had been on the to watch list of all Kabirah fans since june 2008 when it was first meant to be premiere in Ikeja Lagos.

Producer

Kabirak Kafidipe
Kabirat, popularly called Arapa-re-gangan, has actually been busy working on her new film.
She waking into limelight at a relative young age with her performance in Tunde Kelani‘s film, Saworoide, where her innocent love with another rooky, Arese-ja-bata (Kunle Afolayan), runs into trouble waters, Kabira and Ayi garnered their potentials and went into film making. First, they produced Oga, the success of which gave birth to Iwalewa less than two years after. Since then, however, the film sisters have been largely off the scene.
But it is now clear that they had only been busy working on their new number which is now set for the screen. Titled Malaika, the film is due for premiere at Sparke Hall, Ikeja, Lagos, today. According to Ayi, it was the tall ambition that propelled the film that made its coming on stream take so long a time.
“In the past three years, we have had to put in a lot of things to ensure that what comes out is nothing short of a standard film,” she says. “After having produced two feature films and participated in several others, we realise that we can no more say it is the learning stage. Our fans and other viewers will not take any excuse again. So, we had to stretch our resources in all ramifications to see that Malaika is a great experience.”
